I purchased this drill for my birthday about three months ago. I am very pleased. I used it recently with an half inch auger bit in the attic to run electrical wires down the walls. The chuck is very nice gripping to any bit tightly. It ratchets to increase tightness. The battery power indicator is a nice feature. The charger charges the batteries quickly. The drill is compact and well balanced. The price for this product is a good value. I would purchase it again.

This is the fourth Milwaukee drill/driver we have bought, after being being nothing but elated with the larger ones previously purchased. We needed a compact unit for field service work (as opposed to shop work for the others), and this one fit the bill perfectly. Love the light. Was a bit disappointed with the chuck - only because we are used to the all-metal micro-tork chucks on the larger units - having said that, we have encountered 0 chuck problems, so I guess its just a preference for metal on my part. Batteries are awesome. Only drawback is that I wish the battery was reversible as they are on some of the full size units. Overall, highly recommend this unit.

Ok, I've been using the DeWalt 7.3 volt Driver for nearly ten years on the original batteries. I really love the way it performed. The straight or pistol grip capability with it's quick lock chuck makes it easy to use. Still, it had its limitations and the batteries are now worn out. I wanted to replace it with something a bit stronger and everyone told me to stick with DeWalt. However, when I was at Home Depot I saw they had a live demo Milwaukee V18 on display, so I played with it. It's small lightweight design, slim Li-on battery, and good ergonomics really fit my hand like a glove. The build quality was also impressive. Admittedly, it may be somewhat overkill for the average homeowner. As such, I tend to assemble things, which typically requires more driver action, than drilling. However, with the Milwaukee 21-piece accessory kit, it's a nice set-up. Yes, I could have likely got away with a V12 but after using the Milwaukee V18, it's hard to step down, albeit the lower cost. BTW: This whole thing of being made in China vs. USA is really without merit. In fact, the Milwaukee with its five-year warranty is not only reassuring, bit also less bulky when compared to other 18 volt models. Summary: If you need a good drill and driver, then start with the Milwaukee V12 before you get hooked on the more expensive V18. Once you handle this baby, you'll likely never look back. Awesome little drill. Light, powerful and easy to handle. The battery packs seem to drain fairly quickly, but, it only takes 30 minutes to recharge.
